A call is not a job.
Your phone rings. That feels like business. It is not, yet.
A call can be spam. A call can be a customer who already paid you. A call can be a guy two states away.
Here is what the data says. About half of calls to home service companies reach a person. Of the calls that get answered, about 4 in 10 are real leads. Of those leads, a little under half book on the call.
So count three things, not one. Calls. Leads. Booked jobs. Then count a fourth. Paid jobs.
If someone tells you every missed call is a whole job lost, they skipped the counting.
- Pull your last 20 calls.
- Mark each one: lead, customer, spam, or other.
- For each lead, write who called back and when.
- Count the leads with no name next to them.
That last number is your leak. Episode 2 shows you how to fix it. The tracker is on the page.
